Nobody Heard a Thing
Season 1: Rue Valmont. Five books, a bonus novel, a single building.
At 14 rue Valmont, a Haussmann building where everyone greets each other in the elevator, the walls are thick but the service partitions are thin. Each book opens the door of one apartment and one couple the whole building thinks it knows. Behind the façade, a machinery of control, coercion or dependency.
The couples cross paths: the neighbor in the elevator, the woman who heard everything, the concierge who knows it all. Five stories, five floors, and a shared secret buried for twenty-two years that only book 5 reveals.
How to read it
- Every book stands alone. One couple, one floor, one ending.
- In order is better. Earlier appearances take on a new meaning on a second read.
- The bonus novel comes last. The whole building together, on the night of the annual meeting.
The building, floor by floor
- 4th floor My Mother Hasn't Lost Her Mind — Hélène Marchetti and Bruno Ferrand · Undue influence over an elderly person
- 3rd floor Everybody Loves My Husband — Camille and Julien Delorme · Gaslighting, coercive control
- 2nd floor (right) Someone Is Crying in the Wall — Élodie and Marc Lacombe · Postpartum, blended family
- 2nd floor (left) Share Your Location — Inès and Thomas Girard · Digital surveillance, jealousy
- 1st floor Any Other Business — The whole building · Co-owners' meeting, closed-door mystery
- The concierge's lodge The Concierge Knows Everything — Aurèle and Mathilde Vasseur · Dependency, a 22-year-old secret
